Singing Nettles Herbs offers seasonal workshops, plant walks, and small-group gatherings focused on herbal education and learning about plants in place.

Events may include guided plant walks, herbal tea workshops, seasonal discussions, and hands-on learning about herbs traditionally used for tea, food, and everyday wellness. These events are designed to support curiosity, practical knowledge, and a grounded relationship with local plants.

All events are led by a practicing herbalist and are rooted in seasonal cycles, local plants, and traditional herbal knowledge. Offerings change throughout the year based on what is growing, available, and appropriate for the season.

What to Expect

  • Herbal workshops and talks

  • Guided plant walks and plant identification

  • Herbal tea blending and tasting sessions

  • Seasonal, land-based learning

  • Small, community-focused groups

No prior herbal knowledge is required. Events are open to beginners and those with experience who want to deepen their understanding of plants.

Location

In-person events take place in and around Stratford, Ontario, and may include outdoor locations, community spaces, or partner venues. Details for each event—including accessibility, location, and what to bring—are listed in individual event descriptions.

Advance registration is required for most events, as group sizes are kept small. Please check individual listings for dates, pricing, and registration details.

A Note on Herbal Education

The events offered through Singing Nettles Herbs are educational in nature. They are intended to share knowledge about plants, traditional herbal practices, and seasonal approaches to working with herbs. They are not medical appointments and do not replace professional medical care.

July: A Season in Place: Stratford's Riverside Plant Walk

Join your hosts Gabby and Terran for a monthly plant walk along the Avon River!

A Season in Place will follow largely the same route each month along the north side of Lake Victoria (the dammed portion of the Avon River in Stratford).

We will talk about 3-4 plants each time, as well as plant identification skills, foraging/harvesting safety and ethics, as well as practicing observation and grounding.

You can sign up for 1 walk, but signing up for all 4 is recommended to experience the changes in plants and the riverside ecosystem throughout the season.

$25 for 1 walk, $60 for all 3.
